Short Rider on risteytys Top 44- ja Early Special-lajikkeita, joita ei enää kasvateta. Top 44 on ollut kauan kaupallisesti suosittu johtuen sen kyvystä tuottaa kaupallisesti järkeviä määriä vahvoja kukintoja ainoastaa 44 kukintapäivän jälkeen. Vaikka Early Special ei itse kykene siihen, sen siperialaiset Ruderalis-geenit antoivat Short Riderille ainutlaatuisen kyvyn "automaattiseen kukintaan" riippumatta valojaksoista. Tämän takia lajikeen kanssa ei tarvitse noudattaa tarkkoja valotusaikatauluja, vaan kasvi alkaa kukkimaan itsestään! Short Rider on erinomainen valinta kasvattajille, joilla on vain rajallisesti tilaa tai jotka haluavat sadon valmiiksi poikkeuksellisen aikaisin. Laatu on erinomainen, varsinkin jos vertaa aikaan, jota kasvin saattaminen käyttämispisteeseen vaatii.
